The immune system contains cells specialized in fighting pathogens. The first line of defense is your skin. Skin covers most of your body, so it is only fitting that it be the toughest. Because of how closely packed skin cells are, and the fact that they are always moving toward the surface, makes it very hard for pathogens to get in. Your second line of defense is made of organs like your nose and your stomach. Your third line of defense is made up of lymphocytes. White blood cells are the basic cell, almost like a soldier. Also known as phagocytes, they eat pathogens and infected tissue. It will eat, even if it cannot ingest what it is eating. Next, a macrophage, almost like a tank, comes if the phagocytes are not enough. It can catch and digest many more pathogens than a phagocyte. If this is not enough, a T-cell, a specialized cell, docks and extracts an antigen, a special part of a pathogen. It analyzes the antigen, and sends a, message to the B-cell, another lymphocyte. B-cells take the antigen, and build antibodies, special proteins in the shape of a Y, to lock with it (that’s why you eat your protein, folks). When the antibodies are released, they are launched at the pathogens, and can immobilize or even destroy
them
This was adapted from Black-Eyed Peas " Where is the love".
What's wrong with the body, mama
Germs livin' like they ain't got no mamas
I think the whole body’s addicted to the drama
Only attracted to things that'll bring it trauma
With medicine, yeah, we try to stop terrorism
But we still got terrorists here livin'
In the body, the big ISA
The HIV and The Cold and the ‘fluenza
But if you only have no love for your own body
Then you only leave space for malady
And malady only generates hate
And when you hate then you're bound to get irate, yeah
Madness is what you demonstrate
And that's exactly how a germ works and operates
Man, you gotta have WBC just to set it straight
Take control of your mind and meditate
Let your lymphocyte gravitate to the germ, y'all, y'all
Germs a-killin', tissues dyin'
Cells hurt and you hear them cryin'
Can you protect from the breach
And would you turn the other cheek
Thymus, Thymus, Thymus help us
Send some lymphocytes from above
'Cause people got me, got me questionin'
Where is the White blood? (blood)
Where is the blood?(The blood)
Where is the blood? (The blood)
Where is the blood?
The blood, the blood.
It just ain't the same, always unchanged
New days are strange, is the world insane
If WBC and skin is so strong
Why are there things that don't belong?
Nations droppin' bombs
Chemical gasses fillin' lungs of little ones
With ongoin' sufferin' as the youth die young
So ask yourself is the virus really gone
So I could ask myself really what is goin' wrong
In this world that we livin' in people keep on givin'
in
Makin' wrong decisions, only thing left o’ them is dividends
Not respectin' each other, deny thy brother
A war is goin' on but the its under the skin
If the truth is kept secret, it's swept under the rug
If you never tell the truth then you never know life.
