The digestive system and skin interact in multiple ways. The skin, like all other parts of the body receive nutrients from the digestive system. The skin uses the nutrients to make different parts of the cells. They need it to make parts of cells to replace the cells in the dermis and epidermis. If there were no nutrients from the digestive system the skin could not replace its cells, but it would still lose its top layer so then you would lose all your skin with out the digestive system.
The skin also protects the digestive system from diseases. The skin is the first line of defense so it protects from fungi, bacteria, and viruses. They keep it so that the digestive system can do its job with out worrying about infections coming in from the outside.
The skin also keeps the stomach and organs inside by being a "holder" like a pouch that keeps the system inside. The digestive system can get rid of one of the things you consume, like water, by letting it get sweat out through the sweat glands in the skin. The skin and digestive system need each other in many ways.
Skin and Digestive Poem
The skin is protective
Of the digestive
It helps to protect
And detect
The digestive system
sure would miss 'em
if the skin cells weren't there
as a protective bare (shortening of barrier to get the ryhme)
They need each other
like a brother
the building blocks (of skin cells)
are biproducts (of digestion)
The first defense
makes a lot of sense
we wouldn't be the same
without 'em it would be lame!
