Skeletal muscle Structure
Made of long, thin strands with many stripes going down the cell. All of them parallel to each other and packed together with little to no caps.
Function
When one muscle cells receives a message from the brain delivered2 by brain cells. it contracts becoming shorter and wider. which pulls on all the other surrounding muscle cells. causing a chain reaction, which contacts every cell in the muscle. which pulls on the tendon, which pulls on the bone, allowing for body movement, the main function.
Smooth muscle Structure
Made of short, thin, spindle shaped cells with one nuclei. Lined up randomly and unorganized. all touching each other with some gaps.
Function
Smooth muscle is completely independent of nervous messages from the brain. When one cell contract caused by a reflex, it makes all the surrounding cells contract and it continues in a wave like pattern of contracting and relaxing. The best example of smooth muscle is the small intestine,the muscle contracts and push's the food along the digestive track.
Cardiac muscle Structure
Has similar quality's of both smooth and skeletal. It does not need a nerve message from brain and the cells are shaped just like a smooth muslc cell. however it does not have the same squeezing motion of smooth muscle, instead it works more like skeletal muscle
Function
Cardiac muscle has one function and it is only found in the heart. It keeps pumping blood filled with oxygen to all your cells and oxygen low blood to the lungs to refill. Although this is the only function it is also very hard. It has been pumping since the day you wore born, till now.
