The ecosystem plays and important part in the function of the respiratory system. The plants in the ecosystem give us their waste product, oxygen, in exchange for our waste product, carbon dioxide. To get oxygen from the plants the plants first need to use our carbon dioxide and go through photosynthesis. They take carbon dioxide, water and sunlight to make oxygen, which they release as a waste product, and energy. We take that oxygen, inhale it into our bodies, in return, we release our waste product from cellular respiration (our way of making energy) and give the Co2 to the plant. This creates a standard cycle creating a strong relationship between the body (more so the respiratory system) and the ecosystem.
